One of the few bright spots in the found footage subgenre was the 2014 indie film CREEP. Written, directed by and starring Patrick Brice as a videographer on assignment filming a would-be testimonial from the “creepy” Josef in a surprising performance from Mark Duplass. The film was a welcome surprise and the fim’s tragic ending left me wanting more. Good for me (and us) the surprise sequel is ready for release this fall. Duplass returns as Josef and this time is joined by Desiree Ahkavan. The film’s official plot follows Sara (Akhavan) as a video artist whose primary focus is creating intimacy with lonely men. After finding an ad online for ‘video work’ she thinks she may have found the subject of her dreams. She drives to a remote house in the forest and meets a man claiming to be a serial killer (Duplass). Unable to resist the chance to create a truly shocking piece of art, she agrees to spend the day with him. However, as the day goes on she discovers she may have dug herself into a hole she can’t escape.
CREEP 2 is scheduled to be released on all digital platforms October 24th. While a trailer hasn’t been released yet, take a look at the first film’s preview.
