Why is the release of anything FRIDAY THE 13th-related so disappointing these days? First the new television spin-off was DOA at the CW. Then the new sequel/reboot/reimagining was delayed before ultimately being cancelled while in the middle of casting; and now? Diobolik has announced the upcoming release of the first 8 FRIDAY THE 13th films together on blu-ray. This isn’t the now, out of print, complete collection that had all 12 films but a newer release with less films and mostly previously seen features including:

The new collection with the astonishingly boring cover art is scheduled for release just in time for Valentine’s Day, February 13, 2018 for $29.99 and can be preordered here. Fun Fact: for our very first Valentine’s Day, my partner gave me the DVD collection of the first 8 FRIDAY films. I guess this blu-ray would be an upgrade of the same thing? Whatever. I’m sure I’ll buy it because I’m a whore for anything Vorhees-releated. I just hope one day we can either get a reissue of the Complete Collection or an updated blu-ray release of the entire series.
