The response to THE EXORCIST TV series has been mostly received well. With intriguing characters, strong acting, innovative storytelling and a wonderfully diverse cast the new season, currently sitting at a robust 89% on Rotten Tomatoes is critical and fan favorite… except for a couple of douchebags who anything gay. Responding to some idiots who balked at on onscreen gay kiss between two men, ex-preist Father Marcus Keen (Ben Daniels) and Peter Morrow (Christopher Cousins), showrunner Jeremy Slater proved to be an anti-troll MVP. In an interview with the Sci-Fi Bulletin, Slater responded:
“I saw a couple of homophobes on Twitter and my response is, ‘Good, f–k you. I’m glad you didn’t like it, I’m glad it ruined the show for you. You shouldn’t have good things in your life,’”
“If a homophobe can’t watch the show anymore because one of the characters is gay, then I’m glad something good has come out of it. This is 2017 and we still have people throwing temper tantrums online because they don’t want to see gay characters. I think it’s the last gasp of a certain breed of dinosaur that’s on the way out, and let them kick and scream as they go.”
It baffles me that people who watch a show that’s so rich in diversity can also spew such hateful and homophobic shit. We’re talking about a show where a mother held a knife to her child’s throat and a gay kiss is what some people are grossed out by? Good for the showrunner (and since then, star Ben Daniels) for not staying silent and pushing back on the homophobes.
