The FX network should be renamed to “Ryan Murphy TV” at this point (which isn’t a bad thing). With past hit NIP/TUCK and current hits such as AMERICAN HORROR STORY, AMERICAN CRIME STORY, and FUED, Murphy and FX have become an undeniably powerful team. The creative duo now has a new potential hit on their hands with POSE.
Set in the world of 1986 and “looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.
Fan of the groundbreaking documentary PARIS IS BURNING should rejoice as the series and the documentary are set in similar worlds. POSE also has the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles in television history. Finally, a series that doesn’t showcase trans characters as sex workers, prison inmates or a married man’s “dirty little secret.” Thank God.
POSE is set to premiere on FX sometime this summer.
