Since THE CONJURING-universe is a thing now we’re going to bestowed with various spinoffs from every side character who’s every embraced these films.  First, we had ANNABELLE (plus the prequel), we’re getting one based on the crooked man from CONJURING 2, and now we have one based on the scary-ass demonic nun from THE CONJURING 2 as well.  I personally love the actual CONJURING films, but the ANNABELLE films have been subpar, to say the least. No- they’re actually futile exercises in how to stock a film with as many paper thing character setups and innocuous jump-scares as possible.  To say the least.  Unfortunately, the new trailer looks like more of the same.  In yet another period piece prequel the titular nun is running around scaring bitches set to loud background noise.  Anyway, I’m sure it’ll be a hit.  According to the film’s website, the story is as follows:

When a young woman at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are to by the Vatican to investigate.  Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret.  Risking, not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that terrorized audiences in THE CONJURING 2.

Directed by Corin Hardy from a script by Gary Dauberman, THE NUN is scheduled for theaters September 7th.  What do you think of the trailer?  Will this be a welcome addition to THE CONJURING Universe?
