In surprising news actress Katie Holmes has signed on to lead the upcoming THE BOY 2. While the original Lauren Cohan-led film was a surprisingly suspenseful film, news of a sequel seemed to come out of nowhere and with the addition of Holmes makes this an intriguing surprise.
The original film told the story of a nanny who’s hired to care for a young boy named Braham, however, Braham is not a young boy but an emotionless porcelain doll that seems to move on its own. It’s better than it sounds.
Stacy Menear will return to write the script and William Brent Bell will return to direct which begins production in British Colombia in January. According to Variety, the story follows “a young family, unaware of the terrifying history of the estate into which they move, where their young son soon makes an unsettling new friend, an eerily life-like doll he calls Brahms.”
In a statement from producer Gary Lucchesi: “Following the success of ‘The Boy,’ we are thrilled to be working on the next chapter of this chilling Brahms story with Stacey and William. We are also delighted to be continuing our relationship with STX, on this, our third partnership.”
