Can you believe it’s been 21 years (!) since MEN IN BLACK came out? I even remember the music video for the titular theme song playing nonstop on MTV when they played music videos and not mindless garbage that seems to cast people who work at Abercrombie & Fitch. THOR: RAGANOK stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have teamed up once again, however, this time instead of battling Cate Blanchette (is that what they did in that movie? I didn’t see it) they’re battling aliens in the upcoming MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL. This new spinoff, directed by F. Gary Gray, trades in Will Smith for Thompson as the new recruit as she and her partner, Agent H (Hemsworth) battle smart ass aliens and blast people with the memory eraser. Liam Neeson co-stars as the head of the London-based MIB operation with Emma Thompson returning as Agent O. This time, instead of battling aliens in New York, a London-based team of Men in Black secret agents become involved in a murder mystery that sends them traveling the globe. MIB: INTERNATIONAL looks fun and seems to be an updated version of the original film…from 21 years ago (I’m so old). What’s interesting is that Sony still seems to be moving forward with the previously announced crossover of MIB with the 21 JUMP STREET franchise, albeit, as a separate spin-off series. I’m sure this film’s success will dictate if they move forward with that project. MIB: INTERNATIONAL also stars Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, and Rebecca Ferguson. It’s expected in theaters on June 14th. What do you think of this new installment based on the trailer?
