Get ready for the most unsettling theme music to return and give you nightmares for the rest of your adult life. Netflix has announced they are in the midst of rebooting UNSOLVED MYSTERIES because, why not? Netflix is partnering with their golden goose, Shawn Levy, and his production company 21 Laps Entertainment to revive the series. Levy and his team are responsible for the mega-hit STRANGER THINGS which is arguably one of the streaming giant’s biggest breakout hits. The original series which ran from 1987 to 2010 (!) crossed 4 networks (NBC, CBS, Lifetime, Spike TV) and a series of hosts (Dennis Farina, Raymond Burr, Karl Malden, Virginia Madsen) however it was the host Robert Stack and his haunting presence which solidified the shows iconic status. I don’t think I ever watched an entire episode of the series because between Stack and the scary-ass theme music I realized that I’m not that much of a thug. I remember they had a spinoff movie about some guy that killed his wife for the insurance money and went on the run. I don’t know why I watched it but I swear I couldn’t sleep for almost a month. No word on when the revival series will premier or even go into production but you can bet I’ll avoid this one the way Kevin Hart avoids RuPaul’s Drag Race. Until then, feast your lobes on the sounds below.
