The final trailer for the upcoming Todd Phillips film, JOKER, has been released and…well…this is certainly an interesting approach to famed villain.
Three-time Oscar nominee, Joaquin Phoenix, is the latest actor to take on the infamous menace to Gotham’s society. According to Warner Bros.
Set in 1981, Joker centers around the origin of the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

As part of the DC Black franchise, which will be a series of one-off dark interpretations of DC stories, JOKER is produced as a stand-alone story with no canonical connection to any previous iteration of the Joker or Batman stories. JOKER will serve as a psychological horror version of the infamous DC villain.
JOKER, which also stars Robert DeNiro, Zazie Beats, Bryan Tyre Henry, and Francis Conroy is scheduled for theaters on October 4th.
