In news that I did not expect to wake up to but I’m glad I did, Janelle Monae and Kiersey Clemons are starring in a new horror movie together and it looks intense. ANTEBELLUM is the story of a successful author named Veronica (Monae) who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late. Based on the teaser, the story seems to bounce back and forth between the present day and the Civil War era. Rounding out the cast is Jena Malone, Gabourey Sidibe, Jack Huston, and Marque Richardson. Monae and Clemons are currently starring in the updated LADY AND THE TRAMP on Disney+.

ANTEBELLUM comes from the producer of GET OUT, US and PRIDE & PREJUDICE & Zombies, so we can expect some fun and intelligent psychological horror. The Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz directed film is expected in theaters April 24, 2020.
