Get ready to get pig blood all over your pink dress again. FX and MGM are partnering to readapt Stephen King’s debut novel, CARRIE, this time for the small screen. The joint venture will produce a limited series about the telekinetic teen exacting revenge on her bullies during their senior prom. This new iteration would be the novel’s third film adapatation- not to mention the criminally underrated sequel, THE RAGE: CARRIE 2.
While no script, director or performers have been announced, according to Collider, producers are interested in going a different route for the new CARRIE. They’re interested in casting either a trans performer or woman of color in the titular role. I’m already dreading the comments section on several sites. The casting decision is already a better step in the right direction than the previous 2013 remake which offered absolutely nothing new to the story. Here’s hoping the new CARRIE is a worthy remake to the classic and still very enjoyable original.
Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.
