So Ms. Loretta Devine and Omari Hardwick went and made a horror movie and didn’t tell me? I’m so pissed. Anyway, the trailer for their upcoming movie, SPELL, has been released and y’all…it looks insane! Imagine GET OUT and MISERY having a really pissed off baby. See the official synopsis is below:

While flying to his father’s funeral in rural Appalachia, an intense storm causes Marquis (Omari Hardwick) to lose control of the plane carrying him and his family. He awakens wounded, alone and trapped in Ms. Eloise’s (Loretta Devine) attic, who claims she can nurse him back to health with the Boogity, a Hoodoo figure she has made from his blood and skin. Unable to call for help, Marquis desperately tries to outwit and break free from her dark magic and save his family from a sinister ritual before the rise of the blood moon.

Finally! A horror movie not tied to Blumhouse for once. After this week’s Presidential Debate, 2020 owes me another good horror movie before November 3rd and SPELL looks like it may be it. I’m happy to see Omari playing, what I assume, would be a scream king and i’ve always thought Ms. Loretta Devine should headline her own horror film. I honestly can’t wait to see this.

SPELL will premiere on VOD on October 30th.
