We’re getting a remake of THE OTHERS whether you want it or not.

Film Analysis: Alejandro Amenábar's “The Others” – The Cinephile Fix

Actually, I really enjoyed the 2001 film starring film goddess Nicole Kidman. I remember when this film came out as it was shortly after she announced her escape separation from Tom Cruise, who was also a producer on the film and I wanted to see if there was any tension or low-key shade during interviews. Unfortunately, she kept it classy. In case you forgot, THE OTHERS synopsis is as follows:

Grace (Nicole Kidman), the devoutly religious mother of Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley), moves her family to the English coast during World War II. She awaits word on her missing husband while protecting her children from a rare photosensitivity disease that causes the sun to harm them. Anne claims she sees ghosts, Grace initially thinks the new servants are playing tricks but chilling events and visions make her believe something supernatural has occurred.

In a year of JASON X, JEEPERS CREEPERS, and CHILDREN OF THE CORN: REVELATION, THE OTHERS was a welcome approach to a sophisticated horror film that wasn’t targeted just to teens. Kidman, unsurprisingly, gave a captivating performance and the twist ending is still memorable. The as-yet unnamed writer and director will have big shoes to fill as Alejandro Amenábar original 2001 film stands out as one of the best horror films that came out in the new millenium. Stay tuned for more information as this project develops.
