For our Classic Trailer Park series, we’re going to highlight effective genre movie trailers. While these clips are highlighted, this doesn’t necessarily speak to the quality of the film itself, only the effectiveness of the preview. Some films have excellent trailers but the film is terrible like The Nightmare on Elm Street remake, while for others, the opposite can be true like the original Friday the 13th.
MAKE A WISH’s synopsis follows a “woman, lost at night on a country road, is murdered. The next day, six women gather at a wilderness park for a camping weekend in honor of Susan’s birthday: Chloe, Susan’s first girlfriend; Dawn, her most recent one; Linda, Susan’s former lover now back with Steve, who has followed Linda and spies from a distance; and, Monica who used to be with Susan but is now with Andrea, who’s tagged along. They all know who cheated on whom in the Susan saga, plus they flirt or complain in turn. A fugitive may be on the loose in the park, with a private eye in pursuit. A crossbow, a blowtorch, a knife, and an animal trap figure in subsequent murders. Who’s the killer, and who survives?”
MAKE A WISH has been described as a cross between THE L WORD and FRIDAY THE 13th- which sounds absolutely perfect. It’s an older movie from 2004 and is a bit hard to find movie. However it is currently available for purchase from Wolf Video for only $7. While the movie looks super low-budget and cheesy, this is exactly the type of film I’ll watch while downing some Cheetos and beers (I’ve been into domestics lately). I’m going to support indie horror and give this one a go. Afterall, it can’t be any worse than that awful season 6 of THE L WORD. #justiceforjenny
