Can we not?  Can we just let some shit go please?  Oh for fuck’s sake!  According to various reports, it looks like we’re going to be blessed with a BLAIR WITCH T.V. series because… why not?  Series co-creator Eduardo Sanchez revealed on the podcast, Diminishing Returns, that plans are currently underway for a TV spinoff.  Since the BLAIR WITCH sequels were huge critical and commercial successes I guess this makes sense. Ugh!  Don’t get me wrong, I really respect the first film for it’s groundbreaking marketing and effective ending.  Hell, I was also one of the few people who liked BOOK OF SHADOWS.  At least it tried.  Even the most recent BLAIR WITCH… well I saw it.  According to ScreenRant, Sanchez revealed ““I think that the idea of a Blair Witch anthology has always been very – just a really interesting thing. You’re close. You’re in the ballpark. You know, and I think it might be one of those things that might be – you know – the more you think about it, you’re like, ‘That might be the perfect… a TV show.’ You know? So, we’ll see what happens, but I think that’s the next big thing for Blair Witch. Probably TV.” Oh good grief!  Does every story need to be milked to death?  Sure, there have been some great TV adaptations of genre films; BUFFY, HANNIBAL and THE EXORCIST just to name a few.  And while we certainly have those winners to celebrate, we also have some losers that thought a TV version of the film would be great like DAMIEN, THE MIST and FREDDY’S NIGHTMARES (I love/hate the series but it’s very inferior to the film series).  While Daniel Myrick,  the other co-creator of the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT hasn’t been contacted about doing the series this project seems to be in the infantile stages.  Let’s see what happens but this whole project just seems to be unnecessary.
